November‘s Art of the Month:

“Galaxy”

by Jimmi McCarter

Southern-born Jimmi McCarter is truly a multi-talented artists! Pursuing a musical career in Los Angeles as a young adult, Jimmi moved to middle Tennessee in 1982. Her experience in the music industry opened the door for her to start her own talent agency 14 years later, where she represented over 100 actors for Film, TV, and Voiceovers. After 20 productive years, she decided to "officially” retire - which means she finally gets to persue her art!

“I have always been creative, making collaged and painted bottles, dabbling in pottery and Interior Design…. I fell in love with abstract art while traveling and visiting museums. It was a medium that I had always wanted to try but the time was never right. Quite by accident, I found alcohol inks and was totally mesmerized that you arrange the paint by using air, not a brush like you use for acrylic or oil paint. As the inks move, they create designs and colors."

We had the privilege to sit down with Jimmi to hear more about her lifelong journey of art in many forms and to find out exactly how alcohol ink works! Check it out:

May’s Art of the Month:

“Bursby Barn”
by Joel Knapp

Joel Knapp began painting at a young age and enjoyed creating art all through his career as a dentist.  Upon selling his practice and retiring, he was finally able to focus on his true passion…traveling the world and creating art from his experiences!  Together with his wife, Karen, Knapp traveled throughout the country and abroad with easel, camera and paints; capturing all aspects of the landscapes, cityscapes and people they met. He was a painter in motion - restless to capture nature and the country in all its moods and seasons.  An outstanding colorist, Knapp favored thick, juicy oils applied in a loosely impressionistic style. Primarily painting en plein air, he believed that you capture the spirit of a place by experiencing it directly.

Dr. Joel Knapp passed from this world on September 22, 2020. He was a bright light in the Middle Tennessee artistic community and he will be greatly missed by his fellow artists, valued collectors, and his friends at All About Art.

A Special Tornado Recovery Message from our Owner, Joy Baker

You guys have all been so patient and supportive. Words cannot describe how much we appreciate everyone’s flexibility with us while we continue to navigate the speed bumps encountered by even more Tornado Recovery Efforts, especially those that have been unforeseen.

We remain closed as the Roofing and HVAC systems continue their repairs and are hoping that we will receive the “all clear” to reopen at some point next week, but in the meantime check out this quick video for the most recent update from our owner, Joy Baker, and a sneak peek at what is happening in our Gallery RIGHT NOW!!

Source: https://youtu.be/Ma40-92GFJw

Temporarily CLOSED 4/24/2024

The Gallery will be closed today as construction crews are actively scraping the old roof off of the top of our suite and debris is falling into the Gallery. In addition, they are working on installing the new air-conditioning units and are doing welding and duct work inside our space. It is incredibly noisy and not a safe place for our staff or clients to be as construction workers are in and out and heavy equipment is being used in our space.

Depending on how long it takes the crews to complete their work above our suite, there is a chance we may be closed tomorrow and possibly Friday as well. Please bear with us as we navigate this time and needed repairs.

Santa Cop Toy Drive 2023: The RESULTS!!

Let’s celebrate a little happy!! The Thursday before the storm came through that has temporarily closed our Gallery, we were lucky enough to make our 5th annual donation to the Hendersonville, TN Police Department’s Santa Cop Program. We once again partnered with our incredible neighbors at New Beginnings Furniture TN and so many of our patrons to collect over 150 toys and $4,330 in CASH DONATIONS We always aim to beat our best and this year we quadrupled our previous goal! Thanks to you, children in need will not only receive Christmas toys, but they will also be getting new clothing, their families will get Christmas dinner, and senior citizens that would otherwise have been alone will receive gifts as well. Our hearts are so full from all of your generosity and we are already preparing for next year!

We also had some fun with the officers while they were with us and had them draw for the 25 prizes we have to give away to some of the individuals who made cash and toy donations (every toy or every $10 earned you an entry towards a prize of your choice!) Some winners were notified before we had to close but we promise that we will continue to notify the others who won as soon as we reopen.

Thank you a hundred times over to everyone who made this year’s event a success. The officers told us that they received more applications for assistance this year than ever before and we are so thankful that we are part of a community that can come together and help each other

EMERGENCY CLOSURE: Tornado Damage

Along with many other businesses and homes in Hendersonville, City Square Shopping Center - where All About Art Gallery & Custom Framing is located - suffered major damage in last night's tornado. The immediate aftermath of the storm brought roof leaks, which were able to be controlled, however we were evacuated around 7:30pm due to suspected structural damage and possible roof collapse.

At this time we are unsure when we will be able to return - if at all. We will share updates as we have them and reach out to our clients who have Christmas orders with us as soon as we have a more concrete idea of what to expect. We appreciate everyone's messages of concern, patience, and understanding as we navigate this difficult time. Our thoughts are with all of our City Square neighbors and to our Hendersonville community.
